Anonymous asked: Lovely drawings! :) Can you give advice on doing skin tones on in water color?? And also what paints do you recommend? (Like brands, tubes vs. cakes, and what colors you often use) Sorry I am asking a lot! >__<

Thank you!! ♥

I’ll answer the 2nd question first cos it’s kinda related to the 1st one XD My list of watercolor equipments is HERE~! I’ve only used tubes so can’t say anything about cakes. As for brands, I like Sakura for its bright, cute colors, and the price was affordable for the variety of colors. (about $10 for that set, but then again I got it in Asia)

This was done using Sakura

And I only have a few tubes of Cotman, but I find that the colors are deeper and they seem to leave a stronger edge which I really like. Also my tubes are literally 10 years old and they still work perfect so I’m really impressed :P

This one was done using Cotman.

It’s hard to say which brand I prefer more, but I would definitely recommend both of these brands :D

As for the skin tones, GAH, I’m not really good at them either @_@. Usually for the base I always start with a shade of yellow/orange mix with a tiny bit of red, and LOTS of water. I really dislike when the skin turns out too yellow, so I pick a yellow that is very light or has a tint of brown or orange. (the Sakura set has a few colors which is close to skin tones already, which is useful) After the base I just add more red or orange to the mix for the darker shades. Start lightly because you can always go over it later :D

Hope my reply is not too long!! @___@
